Pavilion deliver fourth consecutive victory in PC Cup

Worthing Pavilion defeated Chichester by 92 shots to 76 in a keenly contested final of the PC Industrial Products Cup.
Victory completed a Pavilion double in the West Sussex Bowls League, four weeks after they clinched the Division One title. They had reached the final with away wins against Middleton and Southbourne, while Chichester had beaten Goring Manor, Bognor Regis and Norfolk. Thunder and lightning on Sunday cleared just in time for the 32 bowlers to play under blue skies on Pavilion's premier green. The hosts, undefeated in the PC Cup since 2019, retained the trophy with wins on three of the four rinks. Vinnie Minter, Paul Ward, Jamie Dunk and Mark Strong won 26-14. Jeremy Simpson, Francis Fahey, Keith Wadhams and Warwick Davis won 20-11. Colin Davey, Arthur White, John Frew and Mick Patching won 27-10. Graham Morrey, Danny Minter, Alan Vidler and Simon Davey lost 31-19.
The PC Cup honours the memory of Peter Chiffins, formerly of Tarring Priory and Worthing Pavilion, who sponsored the tournament for many years. Before he passed away in September 2021, he guaranteed another decade of financial support to the knockout tournament. His family attended this year's final with a larger-than-life image of "Chiffo", a much-loved and greatly respected member of the Sussex bowls community.
